Continuing to build a hometown pipeline, class of 2019 Liberty defensive back Austin Fiaseu has verbally committed to play football at UNLV.
Joining class of 2018 graduates quarterback Kenyon Oblad and defensive back Octavian Bell, Fiaseu is the latest Patriots to chose the Rebels from the eight-time defending Sunrise Region champions.
Helping transform the Patriots defense from local powerhouse to top 25 ranked national juggernaut the past two seasons, Fiaseu is an aggressive defender capable of playing either safety or hybrid linebacker at the collegiate level.
A three-year letterwinner, Fiaseu has improved in each season with the Patriots, flashing ballhawking ability as a junior with three interceptions. A disruptive defender, Fiaseu tallied 34 tackles and two sacks. For his career, the six-foot, 200-pound defender has amassed 66 tackles, 6.5 sacks and four interceptions.
Regarded as a three-star prospect for the class of 2019, Fiaseu spurned an offer from rival Nevada to join the Rebels class.
Fiaseu commitment at this time is nonbinding. The first day he can sign a national letter of intent will be on December 19, 2018. UNLV coaches cannot comment until that time.
